Journal of my First Trip to Ghana
In July of 2008 I made a trip to Kenya with Elder Sam Bryant and Elder Paul Blair for the purpose of assisting Elder Obey Ndalima in the ordination of Bro. Martin Onyoni to the office of elder. After we had arrived in Nairobi and while we were awaiting transportation Elders Bryant, Blair, Ndalima, and myself along with Bro. Martin were sitting in an airport café discussing the agenda for this trip. Sitting at a table next to us was a young man who was reading his well-worn King James Bible. While we were talking I notice ...
New Member at Pleasant Plains
I was very excited to hear that Pleasant Plains Church, Danville, Georgia received a new member last night into their fold. Brother Brent Hall, son of Elder Garry and Barbara Hall, asked to join last evening during their weekly Wednesday meeting. I pray God will continue to lead and bless Brother Brent and that he will find much joy in his new church home. To quote Brent from his Facebook profile, "Very happy tonight. I'm finally getting baptized!!!" Amen.
Sylvester Hassel on Charles H. Spurgeon
THE WITHDRAWAL OF MR. C. H. SPURGEON FROM THE BAPTIST UNION OF ENGLAND AND WALES In Appleton’s Annual Cyclopedia for 1887-88, I find the following very interesting and instructive account of Mr. C. H. Spurgeon’s withdrawal from the Baptist Union of England and Wales “The Rev. C. H. Spurgeon gave notice of his withdrawal from the Baptist Union, by publication in his journal, The Sword and Trowel, for November, 1887, and in a letter to the Secretary of that body dated October 28th. As a reason for taking this step, he affirmed that the Union was tolerating error, and per mitting a ...
Memories of Elder Elmer Kitchens
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: Elder Elmer Kitchens was born in 1912 and ordained to the minsitry in 1937 at age 25. He was the pastor of Five Mile Church near Akron, Alabama for 24 years from 1955 to 1979. This is the church I grew up in. I was baptized by Elder Kitchens in December, 1978 at age 15. I was the last person he baptized before his death in June, 1979. I found an audio recording of his preaching on the internet today. It is the first time I have heard him preach since he passed away ...

Doctrine for Dummies – Part 20 – Of the Breastplate of Righteousness
Ephesians 6:14, “and having on the breastplate of righteousness” The breastplate of righteousness is protection for the heart which is one of the most important organs in the body. Without the heart, you die. It does not matter how strong the rest of the body is; it does not matter how much intelligence and wisdom is stored in the brain, you are deader than ary a doornail without the heart. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states in an official document: “Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and is a major cause of disability. About ...
Doctrine for Dummies – Part 19 – Of the Belt of Truth
Ephesians 6:14, “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth” The first piece of armor listed is what I call the Belt or Girdle of Truth. Now, I know when most of us hear the word girdle—we think of that garment that our mothers and grandmothers wore years ago and therefore, associate it with something that a woman would wear. But this is not the case when the word is mentioned in the Scriptures, for back then; a girdle was something worn by men and women. It could be a belt or an undergarment or some other piece of clothing ...
Doctrine for Dummies – Part 18 – Of the Armor of God (Introduction)
A precious sister has requested that I write some articles on the armor of God as detailed in Ephesians 6:10-18. I am very happy to oblige as this is a very important passage of Scripture and one that seems to become more necessary as time marches on. Below is the passage…please read it: Ephesians 6:10-13, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, ...

Join the Old School Baptist ‘Podcast’ Network
I have toyed with the idea of creating an exclusively Primitive Baptist podcast (online radio) network for awhile now. I have been given the proper motivation now to pursue the idea further.
Here’s how it would work. Anyone interested in hosting their own podcast (prerecorded or live) would join. I will help them to set up their own show on BlogTalkRadio (if ... [Read more]

An Anonymous Request For Prayers
Our family could use some prayers. My husband went to work this morning on the last bit of gas between both vehicles. We still have put our trust in the Lord that he will provide. Between us, we have about $1000 (electric, van, insurance, etc.) that is due at the end of the week, and we have NO way of paying it. Please put us on your prayer requ... [Read more]
